Clearly and accurately identify at least two academic individuals or teams to collaborate with to be successful in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program could be very demanding as it requires one to balance between professional and academic demands. In such a case, a student who has enrolled in the program needs academic individuals or teams to collaborate to guarantee better outcomes. Walden University’s College of Nursing prides itself on having a teaching faculty with all the members holding doctorates in addition to being active practitioners. For an academic advisor, I chose to collaborate with Judi Kuric, a program director for the MSN program at the College of Nursing. Walden University. According to Walden University (2021), Judi has accumulated over 35 years of experience in nursing and advanced nursing care. More so, she is a certified Family Nurse, Adult-Gerontology Nurse, and Emergency Nurse Practitioner. I believe that I will benefit a lot since she would be a source of inspiration. Apart from collaborating with Judi, I look forward to working with all the professors who will be handling the different courses in the program. I understand that the academic staff at the university are passionate about teaching as well as ensuring that students are successful. These professors would be a crucial resource that I will use to become a better nursing professional by gleaning into the skills and knowledge that they have.

Clearly and accurately identify at least two professional individuals or teams to collaborate with to be successful in your MSN program and as a practicing nurse

The decision to join the MSN program at Walden University aligns with my professional objective of becoming an expert who embraces evidence-based care. In pursuit of this objective, I plan to collaborate with professional teams and agencies that are keen on enhancing nursing students’ career development. Professional nursing organizations stand out among these collaborations since they offer unique networking opportunities, adoption of best practice guidelines, and mentoring and career advancement (Lanigan, 2020). More so, these professional organizations provide students with access to leadership development, which may not be available in their place of employment. The National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) is a professional team that provides students with tools and resources that support their career development. I will also collaborate with Vincent Hall, the MSN program director at the university. Hall is a professional nurse educator and has been a resident nurse for more than 30 years (Walden University, 2021a). I believe that my collaboration with him will help in attaining crucial lessons that would enhance my professional and academic objectives.

Explain in detail why the academic and professional individuals/teams were selected to support success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse

The academic and professional teams and individuals selected would go a long way in ensuring that I succeed in both the MSN program and nursing practice. Judi Kuric, an academician and professional, has accumulated immense experience, which I hope to tap into in the course of the program. According to Walden University (2021b), Judi has served as a chair in the committee supervising capstone projects. I believe that I will be able to understand what it takes to come up with projects that could be used to solve the current healthcare issues. Similarly, I hope that she will be a source of mentorship, considering that she specializes in different clinical fields. The prospectus indicates that she teaches Acute Care 1and 2, courses that are crucial for nursing students who are keen on improving their patients' outcomes. On the other hand, a collaboration with the professors who will be handling different units in the program would support the success of the MSN program and nursing practice. I understand that the College of Nursing faculty has a respected faculty featuring skilled practitioners and educators in business, nursing, academia, and other fields (Walden University). These professors will support my success since they integrate real-life lessons and experiences into academic and teaching leadership.

Explain how the academic and professional individuals/teams will support success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse

The decision to join the MSN program at Walden University aligns with my professional objective of improving the quality of care I accord to patients. However, I believe that it is impossible to achieve this objective on my own, meaning that I have to collaborate with individuals and teams. I am planning on collaborating with both academic and professional individuals as well as teams. This collaboration aims to improve my success rate since I believe that these individuals and teams have a lot to offer me. These collaborations, which I plan to initiate, will be aimed at coming up with ways of addressing the gaps that exist in clinical practice. I understand that The National Student Nurses Association, one of the professionals I will collaborate with, has adequate resources. According to the National Student Nurses Association (2020), this organization has mentorship programs that enhance students' accountability and responsibility. These resources will go a long way in helping to trace the delivery of care as well as enhance my academic outcomes. A collaboration with Vincent Hall will improve my nursing practice considering that he has accumulated enough skills in the 30 years that he has been a nursing educator. I believe that I could use these skills to engage in projects that are based on evidence-based care. Adopting this approach would mean that I have a greater chance of making the best out of the MSN program. As a practicing nurse, I will be in a position to establish the loopholes in my practice and work on them. In the end, I will become a nursing expert who would be capable of mentoring other practitioners to improve patient outcomes.
