Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) has gained recognition throughout the world. Acupuncture is one of the methods widely used. Acupuncture is a Chinese art method where energy ways are stimulated through puncturing, heating, use of herbal medicine, pressing or application of electrical current (Nordqvist, 2017). The alternative treatment method is carried out by inserting thin needles at the skin of the patient on specific points at varying depths. Research indicates that Acupuncture can be used in relieving pain, but the effectiveness of the approach is yet to be determined. 

The article indicates that acupuncture can be used in promoting the wellbeing of the patients and curing some illnesses. Acupuncture can be used for varying conditions such as blood pressure issues, headaches, fatigue, whooping cough and others. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are various health conditions that acupuncture can help address. These diseases are facial pain, side effects of chemotherapy, gastric conditions, dysentery, induced labor, dental pain, rheumatoid arthritis, and reducing risks of stroke. (Nordqvist, 2017) The risks which are also associated with acupuncture method are also indicated as a warning to the people who may consider using the method. Some of these factors are dangerous for the patients with bleeding disorders, use of unsterilized needles which may cause infection, the needs breaking in the internal organ, risks of collapsed organs such as lungs depending on where the needs were inserted.
