Learning among adults is often voluntary, and various attributes motivate adults to learn. Therefore, according to them, learning is a personal choice meant to enhance their job knowledge and competency and gain proficient development. According to Soubjaki (2015), a dults need to understand reasons they should participate in learning about something new before they are engaged in addition to the learner’ self-concept because most of them suppose that they are accountable for their own lives hence should be treated as capable and self-directed ( Soubjaki, 2015) . All adults seem to be responsive to various external motivators such as higher salary and better; however, potent motivators are external for instance self-esteem besides a desire for increased job satisfaction ( Soubjaki, 2015) . Therefore, helping adults to understand how learning will help them perform their job better excel at work and receive more rewards and recognition will contribute to earning their focus and commitment.

The proliferation of e-learning, social media and online learning changes the dynamics of motivation to learn. Research has established that social media has led to increased enrollment numbers. For instance, online learning has attracted a majority of the working adults who are interested in learning to enroll as part time online students without having to attend classroom. According to Soubjaki (2015), social media has created a platform where adults can continue working and at the same time learn hence motivating them the more to learn. Through social media, learners motivate themselves on the benefits of learning and how it has impacted their life positively which motivates other interested adults to also enroll for a course that would improve their job performance. Social media has further been reported to have had a positive impact on learner’s attendance and tardiness which has also contributed to enhancing communication between teachers and adult students ( Soubjaki, 2015) .
