Agents of Change: How to Drive Successful Change in Your Organization

I agree with the discussion that the nurse leaders should support the quality and safety initiatives because it helps in determining the best practices for the patients and examine if there is a need for improvement. The reforms in the healthcare sector are shifting away from the quantity and towards value-based care. These reforms can only be realized when the nurse leaders promote quality care and ensure that there are safety mechanisms for the staff and the patients. Undertaking a quality initiative can help determine if the healthcare is currently meeting the required quality and safety standards, and if these are not met, then improvements can be made ( Graban , 2018). These initiatives can ensure that there is improvement in the quality of care, enhanced efficiency, and the creation of a culture of safety within the healthcare organization. The quality and safety initiatives have also been proved to promote the best practices that are tailored towards patients’ satisfaction. 

I also agree with the discussion that the role of a nurse leader as an agent of change is to advocate for the best for the patients by ensuring that they receive quality and safe treatment. As agents of change for the future, nurse leaders apply their knowledge and skills to guide the staff while also engaging with the front-line staff in improving the performance of the hospital ( Salmond & Echevarria , 2017). By overseeing the patient's care plans and evaluating the treatment results, the nurse leaders can work with the staff members on how best to improve the quality going forward. The nurse leader can achieve this through education and guidance based on the prior experience as well as the professional knowledge and skills that have been acquired over time. The outcome in this can be improved patients care, enhanced safety and teamwork building.
