What is the difference between probation and parole? What are the similarities?
The two terms are applied interchangeably. However, although both describes the legal status of an offender released conditionally, the terms are indeed distinct processes and punishments. Probation is offered by the criminal justice system and is always an alternative to jail time; mainly ordered as a suspension of a sentence to prison or in lieu. Nonetheless, a person on probation is still under supervision by the court and must follow strict rules all through the probation term ( Nellis, 2002 ). Parole is a release from prison under condition, and the correction system of the state oversees it. A prisoner who has served a percentage of a sentence can go before a parole board and acquire an early release which incorporates parole.
Both parole and probation carry similar threats for the offenders who go against the terms. They are also subject to a litany of conditions like having meetings with the supervising officer at speculated intervals, attending rehab or therapy and not going against the law.

If you were to run a reintegration/reentry program, what would be two of the most important skills to help inmates successfully reenter back into society? Justify your response
Released prisoners always find it hard to rejoin society as they are burdened with criminal records. In helping inmates reintegrate back to society successfully, I would ensure that local governments aid the reentering individuals in the reentry process and offer them medical assistance treatment. However, a successful reintegration or reentry program should provide the released inmate with chances to support themselves through productive and legitimate work, boosting public safety and minimizing recidivism ( Harford & Chae, 2019 ). Providing appropriate medical treatments to the offenders will help reduce any substance use or other mental health concerns. Nonetheless, after treatments, it is best to make sure that individuals become contributing members of society. Thus, I would ensure that the offenders acquire meaningful employment, a house and any relevant skills and education needed to advance their lives. Through these aids, offenders will have hope and help them fit rightfully into society.
