Nurses are critical to the global health outlook. For a nurse to become an international health practitioner, she/he must be culturally sensitive, collaborative and have an awareness of various issues that have no borders. A nurse who has an international viewpoint knows that the whole world can be affected by what happens from just one part of the world. In order to promote professional nursing around the world, the American Forensic Nurses has partnered with the American Institute of Forensic Education to set up academic structures that will bring in new global health nursing professionals.
The American Forensic Nurses acknowledges that for lasting sustainable improvements to be made in global health, there is a need to develop the nurses’ leadership and professional skills. For American Forensic Nurses to produce nurses who can handle global health issues, it requires institutional and instructional innovation. Gimbel et al. (2017) state that in nursing, this would mean improving education and ensuring that policies that enable the expansion of clinical scope practice become promoted, especially in high need settings.

Through the American Institute of Forensic Education, the American Forensic Nurses has been able to build links across nursing research and academic hence addressing the existing limitations in nursing quality and quantity as they engage in global health research (American Forensic Nurses, 2010). The American Forensic Nurses ensure that the nursing students are taken through the unique forensic science educational programs, after which each student goes through a competency internship.
The global health nursing education shall thus help nurses in gaining awareness on how they can offer clinical care in a wide range of settings. This ensures that the nurses are not only educated about specific clinical issues but also the importance and role of other elements such as social determinants of health social justice and health equity (Gimbel et al., 2017). This enables the nursing students to have an awareness of the connection between the political economy and globalization on health and how they can help in promoting better global health outcomes.
