Challenges

People living with disabilities are faced with several physical and emotional challenges at their various workplaces. They have limited social support from their friends, families and work colleagues hence they suffer from depression. For some patients, they suffer from chronic pain, lack of sleep and lack of the appropriate resource to enable them and function independently (Richard Et Al..2009 NSCIA). Disabled persons experience unpleasant thoughts about themselves, their future, their relationship with other people and the physical barriers in the societies. they are in sexual problems brought on by the patient’s injury may become a major source of stress in the marital relationship; these experiences can reduce self-esteem in the disable people, heightening their level of depression and drug and alcohol use. Acceptance of their changed circumstances tolerance of frustration and negative effects, perceived competence, perseverance and the ability to find meaning in their new circumstances contributes to resilience, whereas more severe and containing a sense of loss contributes to poor esteem.

Accommodation

Disabled veterans choosing not to identify themselves for this purpose at the time of application of employment will not be discriminated against and they will be able to identify themselves sat any time. the disabled persons would request the responsible agencies to reasonably accommodate the religious observances and practices of the prospective employees unless such accommodations create an undue hardship on the conduct of business. The company will ensure all personnel actions including compensations, benefits, transfers, layoff, return from layoff, company-sponsored training, education, tuition assistance, and recreational programs are administered without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, disability or history of disability. The employee has the responsibility to provide adequate information to the company as part of the accommodation process.

Finally, other groups are also protected by the Americans with disability act (ADA) topped with rehabilitation act and the analog state legislation. Such groups include physical or mental impairment, a record of such impairment or being regarded to have such an impairment. The lame, crippled, blind, deaf, dumb, and those suffering from spinal cord disorders are also covered by this act. The act ensures the protection of each group and they deal with disability discrimination. The centerpiece of this act is to prohibit most employees from discriminating the disabled co-workers. The title also prohibits discrimination in public services and discrimination in public accommodations. The disabled individuals have rights beyond those granted to other groups protected by antidiscrimination legislation.

Conclusion

The Americans with disability act deal with discrimination of disabled persons in the society. This legislative act has aided the acceptance and accommodation of disabled persons in the society providing them with equal and better opportunities as those other citizens who are not disabled. Ada is a broad law affecting all areas of the legal universe in some way applying to more employees, nonfederal governmental agencies and places of public accommodation.
