Over the decades, there have been debates among music producers, musicians, and relevant authorities on copyrights, protections, and even management of the music industry. Musicians have been fighting for their rights, which they believed for a long time. Their rights have been violated in the music industry. These issues are challenging in the music industry that has led to the development of laws and regulations to facilitate equality, justice, and fairness among all the musicians. An example of such rules is the Orin Hatch/Goodlatte Music Modernization Act. It has three provisions that will impact change in the world of music and transform the music industry towards betterment and satisfaction. These include title I that deals with the Music Licensing modernization act. It is an act that deals with downloads and streaming. The second is title II which talks about the classics protection and access Act while the third, title III, handles the allocation for Music Producers act. These are essential changes in the music industry that will bring about happiness and improve cooperation in the music industry.

The Music Modernization Act and the changes proposed will help in the streamlining of the music industry as well as deal with proper procedures in licensing. The advantage of such mechanisms is that it makes it easier for the music rights holders to get paid when their music is being played online or streamed online. Initially, there were little or no payments directed to the musicians when their music was being streamlined online. The rationale is because the music industry had insufficient regulations and guidelines on how these individuals will be paid for their music. An example is during the 1970s period, where pre-classic songs and recording were being done, but there were no strategies or effective regulations to compensate for these singers. Therefore, through the Music Modernization Act, these legacy artists, as well as their songs and import they made in the society, will be compensated. It helps in appreciating their efforts and role that they played in improving the music environment.

The Music Modernization Act acts in a manner whereby there is an establishment of a collective management organization. The collective management organization aims to ensure that there is the managing of royalties that emerge from the audience streaming music videos through online platforms and handle the musical fees. These can be done through the use of processes like the Spotify piece. There are also other sections such as the AMP, which works to ensure that there is an increase in the royalty payments, which are directed to the record producers and also the engineers in the radio system. It is an appropriate strategy as it seeks to include all the relevant stakeholders in accessing royalties and receiving payments for their hard work. Radio engineers and music producers have been working hard to have the artist’s song at top-notch standards, but when it comes to royalties, they have continuously been neglected. The music modernization act is vital towards addressing these gaps and ensuring that even the producers are appreciated for their efforts in the music industry.

As the Music Modernization Act spells definite advantages in the music industry, there can be challenges that are attached to the process. For example, the artists, radio engineers, or the producers will have a problem in understanding how the Act works and the benefit it will bring to their careers. Hence, to overcome these challenges, there is a need to conduct education and awareness creation among all the relevant stakeholders in the music industry. Through such mechanisms, these individuals will learn on the Music Modernization Act, their roles, and the benefits that they will get from the Act. It helps in eliminating resistance in the industry.
