This book has focused on practical life issues, with the authors describing young people’s experiences as they transition from adolescence to adulthood. It provided the fourteen-year-old youngsters’ recorded experiences enlisted for the study and were observed up to their eighteenth birthday. The authors outlined the youngsters’ experiences in adolescence, including the kind of life they would lead in the future. The study emphasized the initial behaviors that would characterize them as pleasure-seekers and how they uncontrollably indulged in excessive alcohol and drug abuse.

Seemingly, the book informs its readers about the transformation of these individuals who are now engaged in regular jobs, family matters, and profitable interactions, and the transformation in their drinking habits and drug abuse. These youths have formed a model of reference in a society engulfed with uncontrolled consumption of uncouth substances, criminal activities, and other harmful substances to human bodies. What is more, the authors have dedicated a part of the book in five chapters to empower justice. Some of the critical issues outlined include food supply and ecotourism, and the book has majored on social and environmental justice in this part. 

The book can be classified as a suitable source for knowledge among advanced learners of different disciplines, especially in the fields of psychology, sociology, criminology, and many others can refer to the experiences and the findings of the research to understand the relevant phenomena. For instance, in criminal justice, professionals are made aware of the criminal behaviors associated with substance abuse. Severe crimes like rape, murder, and robbery have become prevalent among adolescents and youths, in general, following the abuse of substances.
