In health, this can be well explained by looking at how running influences cardiovascular problems. A researcher conducted by Cronin, Coughlan & Smith, 2015) established that running for only a few minutes a day regardless of the speed can have a very significant impact on an individual’s health. Results showed that those who engage in these exercises are at low risk of getting cardiovascular diseases as opposed to people who do not run at all. The implication of this statement is that the more one runs, the less likely they are of dying from such complications. From the scatter plot, it can be seen that as one variable increases the other starts to decrease and the negative gradient can be used to prove this point. From the example provided, the risk of dying from heart diseases is therefore reduced for individuals who engage in running exercises.
