The Position : We’re looking for a passionate investigative journalist to join our newsroom department. The pay range we’re offering is $26- $74 that is not inclusive of bonuses and allowances.
We offer free on job training through inductions.
We also offer a free medical cover for all our journalists.
Requirements:
Must be a citizen of the United States aged between 22-35 years.
A bachelor’s degree in mass communication, journalism, information studies or any other field of equivalence in a recognized media institution.
A minimum of 6 month work experience either as an intern or journalist assistant.
Must poses exemplary verbal communication skills and demonstrate excellent public speaking skills as well as grammar.
Must have an ability of quickly mastering topics and discussions.
The candidate must be flexible enough to travel in various places to cover events.
Must have good intra-personal skills and can work with minimum supervision.
Proficiency in information studies and computer applications will be an added advantage.
Must have no pending criminal records.
Responsibilities:
Conducting investigations on topics of interest such as crime, politics and corruption.
Researching and preparing reports for watchdog reporting.
Collection, publication and anchoring of information of interest to the audience.
Moderation of debates and live-on-air discussions between the hosts.
Inviting and interviewing of various hosts and stakeholders.
Providing a platform for audience’s views and feedbacks during interviews and discussions.
Expectations
A journalist will be required to traverse different areas to collect information, prepare and organize intensive news bulletins and documentaries that investigate different things ranging from crime, politics, business etc.
Gather investigative news pieces and anchor them in a balanced manner to the audience.
Create trustworthy relationships with contacts and sources for use in future research.
