One, if not the, largest minority group in the United States is Latin. Also referred to as Hispanics, they have biological variations that distinguish them from the other races in the multicultural American population. As a result, the distinct biological features of this community have an impact on their lives (which extends to the professional practices they choose) and an analysis of these impacts is carried out in this paper.
Skin color, for instance, is one of the biological variations. Latino people can either be categorized as natural tan or dark brown. Natural tan is for those who identify with Spanish descent while the dark brown is for those of Indian ancestry (Biological Variations, 2019). Understanding this feature affects my professional courtesy in that I will be more accurate and sensitive in the manner in which I associate with Latinos of different colors. I can be more accurate in the manner in which I refer to my peers rather than using the stereotype (all Latinos are of Spanish descent). In so doing, I can associate with my fellow Latinos well, and my judgment on the heritage can be adequately informed.

High susceptibility to type-2 diabetes is another biological variation. Latinos, particularly those of Mexican descent, have a high prevalence of this condition (Biological Variations, 2019). Therefore, I would be more aware of the types of foods I consume to ensure that I do not expose myself to risk factors that could lead me to be diabetic. In my future practice, I would be careful of my food habits to reduce the likelihood of me having alternate and abnormal blood sugar levels. In pharmacology (which focuses on the uses, effects, and modes of action of drugs), these biological variations would guide me in the manner in which I associate with different drugs. There are those that are sugary which could be a risk factor for type-2 diabetes. Moreover, I would also be sensitive on the issue of ancestry when associating with my colleagues on the issue as it is sensitive and there is need to be accurate to avoid stereotypes that might bring about a misunderstanding.
