Communities with specific identities dependent on factors such as race, history, nationality, language and territory are the majority of victims of racial discrimination in the region; the common cause is that they look and are considered to be different from the mainstream identity understood as the national one. Many who continue to be different and demand to be viewed as such are stigmatized in widely varied forms, of which there is also a persistence of the attribution of race as a stereotype and of a range of biases that devalues them.
