In essence, acting in the public interest encompasses having respect to the overall legitimate welfares of customers, employers, employees, and the general public. Apparently, ethical attributes are one of the most challenging aspects that an individual can possess especially when one is required to make moral decisions within professional boundaries. With the dishonesty that happens within General Foryota Company, there is a need for an immediate action to avoid the liabilities that can come with the implementation of the hover-craft plan. This paper, therefore, proposes to utilize my professional code of ethics to showcase what would be my first step towards addressing the issue at General Foryota, Who I will talk to first, whether I will go to the press and my boss, and whether I should do anything at all.

Being one of the members of the engineering team on the GFC plan, I am no doubt obliged to deliver my full commitment as well as honesty. However, I hold the responsibility of ensuring that public safety is upheld. Considering the fact that I am a loyal member of the GFC, I will respect the code of conduct and, therefore, go to my higher authority boss to let him or her know of the secretive report that I have received. I will do this despite the fact that I know my chief engineer knew about the report but decided to keep it a secret. In case he tells me to ignore the report and never to talk about the same, then I will definitely suspect there is something going on. Due to my suspicion about the chief as well as his or her intentions I will go ahead and find an alternative way of dealing with the matter at hand. Going to the press will be my last resort especially if the issue is not addressed.

Primarily, I need to choose between right and evil regarding the secret on the report. In case I choose to stay quiet and do nothing I am definitely letting the overall public’s lives at risk. On the other hand, I need to protect the environment as per the professional obligation of an engineer. Moreover, in this situation, I will be letting the Hover-vees destroy human life in case I do nothing. In this light, I will be violating the code that obligates engineers to act for each employer or rather a client as a trustee or faithful agent ( Rhodes & Pullen, 2018) . On the other hand, if I choose to protect the lives of human beings in place of environment then I will be thinking of greater or good ( Rhodes & Pullen, 2018) . However, what would be the point of stopping global warming if there would be no human left on earth. This means, therefore, I will let everyone be aware of the secret report even if it means losing my job since I am obliged to make moral decisions for the good of the public.
