Q1, week 5

Do you believe most cancers are inherited or non-inherited? Explain your response.

Cancer is an open lump of isolated cells in a body. A cell needs to produce 6 or exceeding gene defects before it matures to be carcinogenic. Most cancers caused by gene faults that develop during our life tie. They happen, as individuals get older because of some random mistakes when a cell is dividing or when one has exposed to carcinogens substances like cigarette smoking or sunlight. Therefore, cancer is a non-hereditary disease.

Q2, week 5

Which oncogene do you believe is most dangerous? Explain your response.

An oncogene is a chain of deoxyribonucleic corrosive (DNA) that has mutated from its primary method identified as protoncogene. The most hazardous oncogene is RAS that no form of treatment to do this exists for the set of genes. Cancers with mutated RAS genes are often entirely removed from all treatment plans.

Q3, week 5

Which tumor suppressor gene do you think is most beneficial? Explain your response.

Tumor suppressors genes are normal genes that slow down cell division, repair DNA mistakes or tell cells when to die. Tp53 is a significant player in protecting us against cancer hence it is a beneficial tumor suppressor gene.

Q4, week 5

Do you believe it is more dangerous to have active oncogenes or inactive tumor suppressor genes? Explain your response.

It’s more dangerous to have inactive tumor compressor that propels mutation of cell division that gets out of control leading to the development of cancer cells. Tumor suppressor gene mutations are acquired and not inherited.

Q1, week 6

Do you believe genetic engineering is beneficial or dangerous? Explain your response .

Genetic engineering entails the alteration of the genetic makeup by inserting, deleting or changing specific pieces of DNA. Yes, I believe it is beneficial because it has potential to increase the lifespan of humans by altering genome to slow down the aging process.

Q2, week 6

Which DNA analysis technique do you think is most informative? Explain your response.

STR analysis refers to ‘short tandem repeat’ type of DNA works to examine individual areas in DNA. It is regarded because of its storage information, which entails databases at local and national levels.

Q3, week 6

Do you believe genomics or proteomics is more informative? Explain your response.

Yes, I believe proteomic is more informative because proteins are functional molecules in cells and represent actual conditions.

Q4, week 6

Which type of cancer treatment do you think is most effective? Explain your response.

Surgery is the most preferred and efficient way to treat cancer because it may be used to remove it along with any nearby tissue that might contain cancer cells hence it offers the greatest chance of cure for many types of cancer.

Q1, week 7

Which cancer do you think is best to consider for gene therapy treatment? Explain your response.

Breast cancer is the most effective treatment for gene therapy cancer due to the presence of several tumor antigens and the aberrant expression of many molecular pathways.

Q2, week 7

Which cancer do you think is best to consider for immunotherapy treatment? Explain your response.

Breast cancer is one of the types of cancer that is treated through immunotherapy where researchers create an antibody that targets cancer-causing molecules explicitly in the body.

Q3, week 7

Which cancer do you think is best to consider for anti-angiogenesis treatment? Explain your response.

Tumors are best treated by anti-angiogenesis because they block nutrients and oxygen entering making it starves.

Q4, week 7

Which secondary therapy do you think is most effective? Explain your response.

Cognitive behavioral therapy refers to a class of interventions that share the basic premise that cognitive factors maintain mental disorders and psychological distress and it is the most effective therapy.
