Multiple resources will be required to implement the change proposal on controlling the spread of tuberculosis in an all-male correctional facility. One of the most important resources is screening equipment. The organization will be required to have a rapid diagnostic facility for tuberculosis screening, and this will be accompanied by other laboratory supplies needed for screening and diagnosis in the correctional facility. This is especially important because, in the start-up phase, tuberculosis screening will most likely be labor-intensive hence consume a lot of laboratory supplies. Labor-intensive cases occur during mass screening, screening during entry into a correctional facility, and provision of rapid TB diagnosis for any person with signs of the infection are executed simultaneously (UNOPS, 2018). As a result of the need for a regular supply of laboratory supplies, an effective and efficient supply chain will be required for the change proposal. In addition, the facility would require to set up an isolation ward for inmates who could potentially infect others with the disease. Although there are no studies that have approximated the finances needed for activities related to controlling of tuberculosis in correctional facilities, there is evidence that the finances set aside for TB control activities in correctional facilities are very low (Lee et al., 2012). Therefore, for the proposed change to be implemented, the organization would be required to set aside more money for TB related activities in the facility. Allocating money for the schedules activities is essential during the start-up phase that will require the making of capital investments. Decisions related to capital investments are among the most critical decisions that organizations make (Peterson & Fabozzi, 2004). Such decisions determine the capacity of an organization to provide services and commit their money for a prolonged period (Peterson & Fabozzi, 2004). However, the amount of funding needed to sustain the change will reduce after the initial capital investments. Also, it will be crucial to consider other costs such as transfers, tuberculosis therapy support, and RIF tests that could be needed, among other costs.

The proposed change will require a constant supply of adequate amounts of tuberculosis medication. According to the CDC (2019), individuals with TB need to receive treatment, complete the regimen, and take the drugs according to the provided guidelines. If the drugs are stopped soon, an individual may fall sick all over again, and if the drugs are not taken as prescribed, the causative bacteria might become resistant hence become costly to treat. Therefore, the organization would be required to ensure that there is a sufficient supply of medication, which is usually taken for a period of six to nine months. The approved first-line therapy for TB consists of rifampin, pyrazinamide, isoniazid , and ethambutol (CDC, 2019).
Healthcare staff for tuberculosis screening, treatment, and follow-up would be required too. Healthcare staff, such as nurses, physicians, and laboratory technicians, among others, would be required for the change to be implemented. The correctional facility’s health staff will need to be informed appropriately to ensure that guidelines and procedures are followed appropriately and sufficiently for the control efforts to be successful. In addition, the screening team, as well as several peer educators, will need to be identified and receive training for the change initiative to be successful. Healthcare staff plays a central role in efforts to curb the spread of tuberculosis.
