Person centered care is a fundamental standard of care that entails viewing people who are using social services and health as equal partners in developing, monitoring and planning care to make sure that services rendered conforms to their needs. In other words it is a principle that entails delivering care that is beyond patient’s conditions and tailoring healthcare services to match their individual needs and wants ( Taylor et al., 2018) . Person centered care focusses on respecting the patient’s own views on what is best for them and recognizing that they have their own values and life priorities ( Adams, 2016) . To deliver person centered care, health professionals need to know a patient on a personal basis and must involve them actively in care related decisions.
Holistic nursing is a nursing practice that pursues the goal of healing the whole person ( Frisch & Rabinowitsch, 2019) . In my future role as a nurse practitioner, I will apply holistic nursing by fostering robust relationships with my patients to promote wellness and healing. In addition, I will strive to understand each patient’s diverse needs and provide individual based care. I will also assess patients holistically by applying open communication.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Cultural humility involves exercising self-awareness as well as cognizance to significant cultural issues of other people ( Foronda et al., 2016) . I will apply the principle by recognizing and understanding the multiple challenges that hinder patients from accessing care. I will strive to exercise inquisitiveness, maintain an open mind particularly towards client’s cultural background. I will also always try to remain aware of my own biases by withholding potential personal judgment about a patient’s or family choices.
Self-reflection entails having a strong sense of inquiry in nursing practice. I will apply self-reflection in my future role by regularly examining own clinical and professional actions. I will also endeavor to compare my professional practice with best practice standards and recommendations.
