Change Management in health care and mental health nursing' is an article written by experts Michelle Cleary, Sancia West, David Arthur, and Rachel Kornhaber. In general, health care has experienced accelerated change and growth, which has had a significant impact on nursing care to a certain degree. Nonetheless, the article points out that the healthy progress and associated implications of the transformation regarding the nursing profession have not been fully embraced as the pace may suggest (Cleary et al., 2019). The ability to embrace the changes at the core of health care and nursing is a challenge. The current group of professionals is resistant to change, but they are also skilled at underlining the status quo.

By utilizing mental health nursing, as an illustration, the article addresses change management. Furthermore, the article highlights why, at times, change is managed ineffectively. Currently, some of the strategies and challenges within the profession relate to the transfer of knowledge and information from research to the implementation of best evidence-based practices (Smiley, 2019). Case studies provided in the article offer examples of how the change in mental health nursing has taken place, as well as demonstrating how the concept of change management can be achieved effectively. Some of the key strategies include the need to be sensitive to culture, as often people are the ones who change, and not the organization (Choi et al., 2016). Indeed, the information from the article can be used by leaders when adopting change management strategies and principles to enhance the developments that have transformed mental health nursing within a short time.

The main strength of the article is the fact that it is current, thus relevant. The article does strive to tackle a common challenge in nursing, but health care in general. The authors do provide sufficient evidence to validate the thesis. Furthermore, the article is adequately supported by a literature review drawn from credible sources and case studies. Most importantly, the views of the authors are well balanced and presented objectively. It is clear to see the message the article is trying to put out. The language used by the authors is clear, concise, and simple to comprehend. Similarly, the flow of information is quite logical and easy to follow. On another note, the authors' examples to highlight the relationship between changes, evidence-based practice, and mental health nursing are very relatable. The writing style helps to strengthen the article's argument beginning with an introduction, followed by a brief history of the problem before introducing how some of the strategies and challenges within the profession relate to the transfer of knowledge and information from research to the implementation of best evidence-based practices. As such, I would recommend the article to a colleague because it helps all professionals understand the role they play in promoting or hindering mental health services.

In conclusion, the article notes that healthcare has undergone significant changes that have had a major impact on nursing. Nonetheless, despite the progression, it has been challenging for the current group to fully embrace some of the positive changes instead of creating resistance. Using mental health nursing, the article highlights how, at times, the industry has failed to deal with change effectively. A major problem has been the inability to incorporate evidence-based practices into care effectively. Generally, it is hoped that the information provided will help leaders when adopting change management strategies and principles to aid in enhancing the developments which have transformed mental health nursing within a short space of time.
