Although I am in total support of the welfare system that we currently have in place, I believe there is however a need for some changes to be done it. Now in days, very many people are taking advantage of the help they are getting from these welfare programs. In addition to that, we also have people getting the help that in actual sense they do not deserve hence the need to improve the entire welfare system. The first change should be on the standard quality for help to ensure that it is fair to every person. Moreover, there is also a need to hire people whose work would be to check if people receiving the various forms of help are using it for the right purpose.
Another change that should be done on welfare programs is to send parents who work in these welfare programs to parenting schools. By attending parenting classes, parents in the welfare programs would have a chance to cover a number of topics and learn how to help other people. Parents would not only be educated on how to guide their children to stay off welfare programs, but they would also learn how to guide their children in acquiring jobs. Lastly, there is a need to ensure that every adult who receives a family cash benefit gets work within the first year. Having this as a policy would force people to quickly go out and look for work. It will enable them to have an urge to make a living in the society. Any adult not able to get work with a year would then have to attend some form of financial support class. By making such simple changes, there is no doubt that the welfare system would improve.
