Hazard or risk analysis of chemical processes is a careful assessment of the chemical compounds which could result in harm to people in the workplace, in order to determine the control measures which should be put in place to prevent the adverse effects of these chemical processes on workers. Chemical analysis is used for assessing the safety of chemical processes. Chemical analysis is the study of chemical structure and composition of substances ( Boudart, 2014) . More widely, it can be regarded the total of all methods in which any precise chemical information is gotten.

Chemical analysis may be either quantitative or qualitative. Qualitative analysis determines the compounds and elements which exist in a sample of a chemical compound. Quantitative analysis determines the sum of weight of each compound or element present. The processes by which these goals can be attained comprise testing for the chemical reaction of an alleged chemical component ( Towler & Sinnott, 2012) . The analysis is essential in setting standards for chemical contaminations in the work environment.

Many workers are exposed to hazardous chemical agents at the workplace. When the exposure is not properly controlled or prevented, it could result in severe injuries or illnesses, and even fatalities. The impacts of hazardous chemicals could be instantaneous or long-term and could be mild or chronically severe. Some hazardous impacts of chemical processes are skin burns, irritations, poisoning, and cancer due to exposure to carcinogenic substances.

Risk analysis of chemical processes differs from non-chemical processes as it entails a chemical change in the chemical composition. There is the breakdown of substance composition and formation of new ones, which makes it a chemical process. However, in non-chemical processes, changes are restricted to changes which lead to a difference in display without a change in the substance composition. Certain common changes in non-chemical processes comprise change in color, texture, temperate or shape.
