Who was Christopher Dorner and what events led to his murder spree?
Christopher Dorner is an infamous former police man at the Los Angeles police department. His popularity grew owing to the idea of killing his police colleagues and their families in cold blood. His killing spree began with him murdering the daughter of the former Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) boss together with her fiancé on February 3, 2013 (Kelly, 2013). Chris then went ahead unleashed similar atrocities on three other police officers shooting and wounding them, and later on killing another during the final week of his siege. It is perplexing for one to try and determine why Chris participated in the murders based on the idea that he has been labelled as an exceptional citizen. Many of his colleagues remember him for his intelligence and sensitive nature. This, nevertheless, took a downward turn in his life in 2008 following his dismissal from the LAPD, after being accused of offering false statements (Kelly, 2013). He further alleged racism was prevalent within the force and that it had contributed to his dismissal just before he began committing the murders.
Do you believe Christopher Dorner was a domestic terrorist? Why or why not?
I do not hold the belief that Christopher was a domestic terrorist. Instead, I believe that he is a disgruntled police officer who acted on a whiff of emotion. What he did was not uncommon since many police personnel have been known to result to such means in a bid to make their frustrations known to others. A majority of such individuals have nothing to fall back to in the event that they lose their jobs. They, therefore, tend to turn against those they deem responsible for their loss. Moreover, Chris was well aware of what he was doing, and he managed to use his training to execute the atrocities. Further still, he was well aware of the racial dynamics existent within Los Angeles, and once he became a victim, he felt compelled to revenge.
