Old age is one of the topics that no one would want to talk about it. However, old age is inevitable just like change is inevitable. Every human being on earth experience growth and this leads each individual to old age. Old age in the United States is referred to a group of people whose age is above 70 years, although a person who is at sixties will still be under the aging group. To better understand the perspective of someone who is above 65 years, an interview was conducted to American citizen who is 80 years old. Data gathered from the interview indicate that old people comprise of a group of individuals who have lived their life and are at a stage where their thoughts are far more different from those of younger generation. For example old people tend to be kind, give good advices and encourage people to live in accordance to the expected morals. Old people are more compliant to societal ethics and are no aggressive in terms of decision-making. However, there are certain aspects that make old age to be a difficult journey which are depression, loneliness, anxiety and other disorders.

When it comes to marginalized group, the old age group refer themselves as marginalized because they are considered especially in most programs that take place in the government. In defining the term marginalized group, it refers to a group of people who are termed as unimportant, of lower status or not significant. My belief in regards to transitioning to old age in the United States seem to be full of optimism that I will be able to age gracefully, without any old age conditions. Therefore I will strive to ensure that I am prepared psychologically to face this journey that is inescapable. Contrary to other people’s opinion regarding old age, I believe it is a transition that requires patience and understanding; this is because every individual on this earth has to go through this stage.
