The leadership skills that I would like to model as Masaya’s preceptor include communication, the coworkers should be able to communicate and point out areas where a colleague need to change or behave towards other people. Respect should also be modelled to allow respect to other people privacy and relationships. The third skill is being appreciative, team members ought to appreciate when a colleague does something good. Lastly, I would model positivity as it would motivate the coworkers to be motivated to work together and press on in case of challenges both within and outside the work environment (Lockwood, 2003).
Yes, incivility is an issue in this particular case. According to Lachman (2015), incivility is usually associated with attacking the integrity of a person, sexual jokes and offensive comments. This has been demonstrated in Masaya’s work environment and has happened to him. The nurses are despising him for writing report using patients surname in preference to their first name. They are also fixing dates for him despite knowing that he is married and for thinking that he has split with his wife.

The theme of contempt is quite evident. It has been illustrated through incivility. Nurses are holding a contempt of Masaya’s care for the patient and his relationship with his wife. Besides according to Lachman (2015), contempt is portrayed through sexual jokes, attack on a person’s integrity and despising nurse’s input regarding patient’s care.
Concerning the index, I would improve on having good thoughts concerning others, having a good attitude to present and new colleagues, respecting other people’s privacy, encouraging and supporting others, acknowledging the contribution of others and having a direct conversation with the person whom I have issues with.
