The classic of Tea is a story about the tea making process written by a Chinese poet, Lu Yu. The classic of tea is connected to Buddhism. It speaks of how to harvest tea and all the implements to brew tea, the harmony of humans and nature. There is an attraction between water and environment. Proper water must be drunk. Lu is a tea expert. He had the art of tea. He wrote the classic of tea, a tea manual. Lu spent many times alone in the mountains and tried to find the finest water sources and herbs. He valued the flavor of tea, drank only three sips in a sitting to cultivate. Lu Yu was regarded as a god. Tea is a symbol of richness. Drinking of tea became prominent due to the influence of Buddhism. Tea is believed to have qualities to be a remedy. 

The assumption of tea helped the expansion of China to the south during the tong period. Tied South and the North together. There was an integration of North and South China. China became the model culture throughout East Asia. Their government, culture, literature, imperial court, Buddhist culture. The spread of tea is hand and hand with the spread of the Chinese culture. Tang period was a great period for a culture of change for cultures of the west (India, Islamic). Silk Road during the Tang period became a busy trade area for Persia and Mesopotamia, but tea did not become a commodity on the Silk Road. Southern China is the home of the original tea plant.
