Clinical practice is an essential part of nursing. It provides learners with the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills acquired from learning into practice under professional guidance. Practice experience is also crucial in shaping nursing students as future professionals in nursing. Professional learning helps students develop skills, like effective communication, which can be exercised in practice experience and later applied in a professional nursing career. This paper explores how effective communication learned at school relates to practice experience and how it impacts professional practice.
The health assessment course has played an important role in providing essential knowledge required in the life of a nurse. One important learning outcome is effective communication with family, patients, and interdisciplinary team members. Effective communication is essential in the provision of proper care to patients and increases the satisfaction and trust with the patients (Shafakhan et al., 2015). As a nursing student, I will apply the knowledge about effective communication learned in class in practice experience for a better understanding of the patient's needs and communication with other nurses and the professional guide. This will help in shaping me into a better nurse and preparing me for my professional nursing career.

Practice experience has a huge role in shaping nursing students to professional nurses. As a student, practice experience will help in the transition from a student to a professional nurse. Through practice experience, I will acquire experience in what it is like to be a professional nurse and determine if the job aligns with my interests before committing to a particular clinical setting. It will also help me become accustomed to high-stress moments experienced in nursing, which will help in honing my skills to ensure that I am ready for the job (Althiga et al., 2017). I will also learn to use effective communication when dealing with patients, their families, and my colleagues. This will be essential in shaping me into the nurse I always aspire to become.
In conclusion, professional learning is essential in providing students with important knowledge required in their practice experience and professional practice. The knowledge of effective communication learned at school will help me learn how to interact with patients and colleagues in practical experience. Applying this knowledge in practical experience will usher me to professional nursing requirements and expectations. This will help develop me into a better professional nurse.
