Since I was young, I have always perceived the UK to be the best place anyone can study. For us in Greece, a degree from the UK is valued highly. My interests, in particular, are in media communications. Studying in the UK, to me, becomes the best options for various reasons. First, the UK seems to be the undisputable world media center. The BBC, from the past to the present times is undoubtedly the world’s radio while The Guardian is almost the world’s newspaper. The radio and the newspaper have a global presence and have a diverse workforce. Evidently, the UK has the latest technology and has vast experience in all the cultures around the world. Therefore, having a degree in media communications from the UK implies that I will have been educated about the latest technology and cultural advances in the media world, crucial aspects that will make me to stand out.
The most prominent reason I am interested in media communications is because it is fascinating to realize how much power the media has in our society. People all over the world want to know what is happening around them. It is the responsibility of people in the media industry to inform, teach, and do research. The media, in this case, emerges as a powerful force, which can be used to influence people positively. For instance, some communities in the world have had negative perceptions towards each other, which have often led to conflicts. I believe that the media has a vital role in changing such narratives and fostering peace in the world. In light of these aspects, I believe that the media is indebted to the society and the world at large. The UK media has led the way in transforming the society. For instance, through advertisements and exposure, the UK media has developed football and transformed it into a profitable career. Currently, every talented player in the world wants to be given an opportunity to play in the English Premier League. That in itself demonstrates the power of the media.

In regard to my background, I am a responsible person who believes in hard work, resilience and order. I also have the capacity to work both as an individual and in a team. Throughout the years, I have developed my communication skills through projects and presentations. Computer classes have always fascinated me and currently I can use typing applications such as Microsoft word and presentation applications such as PowerPoint. However, with my enthusiasm, I know I will learn better computer applications if I am admitted to a UK college.
I have also participated in various organizations that I believe are a stepping stone to my future career. First, I was in the Junior Achievement Club, where we had to prepare a business plan. Besides, I was in charge of Public Relations in the club. Last year, I was in a Ted-Ex club and after watching many talks, we tried to present one in front of the whole classroom. I believe that the two clubs have imparted some management skills in me.
Lastly, my area of interest in media communication is magazine publishing. I have always enjoyed reading magazines, especially the fashion ones such as Vogue, Elle, and Bazzar. However, I would like to work for a magazine company after completing my masters’ studies, also in the UK because I believe higher education in the UK is better organized than in Greece. Most importantly, I plan to use the education and skills from the UK to create positive changes and impact in my country and the world at large. Evidently, admission to college in the UK will change my life. I am optimistic that I will get positive feedback from you.
