Application of Communication media and Methods to Various situational needs of organizations
Different communication methods can be used at different situations for organizations. The most common levels of communications in an organizations involve the horizontal communications and the vertical communications. Letters are the most commonly used means of communication.However,most organizations use such email and memos to convey their information.Telephones are also used in communication in the organizations.The situation in an organization dictates the type of media that should be used in an organization to convey messages.
Most official communications within an organization are relayed using official letters. This is done to act as evidence in case of disputes or conflicts that may arise from the communication break down within an organization. Most organizations also use emails which is deemed as faster and quite confidential for some messages.
Cultural practices in communication in organizations
Cultural Approach to organizations theory is the theory which presupposes that people live and owe allegiance to various societies and this make them operate like animal web. People get their information in a kind of mediated method. Organization culture consist of people sharing some symbols having unique meanings.
Cultural differences refers to the peculiarity and distinctiveness of the way of life of different people(Jenkins et al.2009). People live in societies that have different ways of life. These may be in terms of courtesy,communication,songs and other practices. An organization may comprise of people from different territories. These people may experience culture shock. The cultural diversity may also be richness so far as development within an organization. It is also important for individual developments of the employees within an organization. Communication being part of culture is an important aspect of organizational communication
Application of communication theories
Communication theories in communication guide the communication in the organizations.The most common theories like coordinated management theories and the cultural theories explain the communication structures in the organizations. Coordinated management of meaning refers to a belief that meanings are attained when the messages are told in stories as well as lived. This has the effect of creating coherency and covariance from a message(Bromiley et al.2015). This theory presupposes that individuals organize their thoughts and communication depending on the nature of the society that they find themselves in. The environment of organizations determines the communication method that is to be applied. The nature of messages to be sent in organizations is also a good determinant of the communication channel that is induced. Various challenges are faced in an organization key among them are the cultural differences which brings about cultural shock and impedes proper communication within an organization.
Communication Dynamics in an organization
Organizations today face a lot of dynamism. Advent of internet and the usage of internet has ensured that organizations relay information in real time. Such technologies as the teleconferencing techniques ensure that meetings occur within an organization structures without the individuals being at the same place. Globalization has made the world a village by the use of technologies. Communication in the organizations have faced a constant trajectory and the movements and the dynamism in the communication.
