Sepsis refers to a life-threatening condition that influences the lives of more than 160, 000 people annually in the United States. The genesis of Sepsis can be traced from the point in which the body’s response to the disease gets hazardous to sensitive organs and vital tissues that ultimately results in failure of the organs. The rate of Sepsis incidence has caused more deaths and increased healthcare cost, which has become more expensive for most hospitals. The disease remains a threat to the community in the sense that even after a victim recovers from the disease, some still undergo persisting physical and psychological problems including post-traumatic depression, intellectual problems, persistent pains, as well as organ malfunctioning. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a community awareness program to stress on the dangers of the disease. To curb the melee, a project named “Think Infection Spot Sepsis” has been implemented in an attempt to reduce the Sepsis associated deaths by 30% within a span of two years. The central objective of Think Infection Spot Sepsis was to ensure appropriate diagnosis and cure of sepsis at early stages, particularly amid the young children. This involved screening of the patients to establish whether they had been infected by the sepsis and enrolled for more intensive treatment. A potential outcome of the project was the direct influence of IST on patient outcomes. Through motivation, the project raised awareness to the nursing team concerning the spread of Sepsis in the community. It was discovered that the condition had irrevocably infected the patients’ organs and constant screening was the only considerable way of minimizing the escalating patient death rates within the community. The significance of the nurses in the project cannot be overlooked. First, the nurses were at the forefront of ensuring quality delivery of sepsis care. The nurses also spent more time with the patients hence making them instrumental in detecting sepsis-associated outcomes on time through screening.
