A community needs assessment involves planning for the assessment, conducting the assessment, reviewing and rating the collected data, recording and reviewing of this data and finally development of a plan for action. According to the Center for Victim Research (CVR) a needs assessment involves the carrying of the steps mentioned above with the goal of bringing a given change in the community. The change focuses on a positive and long-lasting outcome for the entire community (Murray, 2018). The needs assessment process has been crucial for me in identifying a problem that is affecting a community and which needs to be addressed.
I have observed that the community is affected by increasing homelessness. Many individuals in our community are homeless due to one reason or the other and the strategies put in place to address the problem are not working as expected. I believe that it is time to develop long-lasting solutions that will help deal with the problem even for generations to come. For this to be possible, it is necessary to establish a plan for action that is founded on sufficient facts and data concerning the issue. Once we establish such a working plan as a community, I am sure that we will manage to address the issue of homelessness entirely and for years to come.

I believe that the change that will result from the process will help protect those of us who may have been left homeless due to various reasons and make them feel that they belong. It is an initiative geared towards developing a cohesive community, one that cares for its members. I believe that the togetherness that will be established thereafter will enable community development economically, culturally and in all other ways. Let us engage in a community initiative that will be appreciated by our future generations and help end the issue of homelessness in its entirety. Overall, the initiative will not only help our colleagues affected by homelessness but result in the eventual advancement and building of the community. I believe that we are all set to benefit in immense ways especially in our moral desire to help those in need.
