As a nursing professional, this course has offered invaluable insight that will work to enhance my practice. First, through the course materials that I was exposed to in this course, I am better placed on differentiating between public health and community health nursing. In essence, I learned that community health nursing focuses on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness in groups and families as opposed to public nursing, which aims at initiating community-based plans aimed at preserving the health of communities such as immunization drives (Malcarney et al., 2017).
During the course, the study of epidemiology was another important aspect that I found helpful in enhancing my practice. With the knowledge gained from this course, I am in a position to investigate epidemiological events (disease outbreaks) (Harkness & DeMarco, 2016). In my practice, epidemiology is critical as it forms the foundation for the implementation of appropriate disease control measures. Also, it improves surveillance for the identification of hazards to be given priority and the critical factors to be considered in epidemiological events (Rogawski et al., 2016). Considering the roles of a community nurse, such as the gathering of information and educating the community on epidemiological events, the course material has equipped me adequately in these aspects.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
I believe that the structure of this course and the learning material was suitable for enhancing nursing knowledge. Besides, during this course, I also learned how to create meaningful PowerPoint presentations. In my view, PowerPoint presentations are powerful tools for community nurses as they aid in the presentation of educational material to communities on the prevention of illnesses and potential outbreaks.
