School health nurse is important in any learning institutions since they will help in the provision of comprehensive health services to all the students. Due to the increasing number of students within St. Louis Missouri School, will there also be increased in various chronic health conditions that would affect the learning process. Therefore, a requirement from the government, schools within my area all have a school health nurse who is always assigned to the institution.
The school health nurse carry out various roles in order to foster child and adolescent health as well as students' educational success. First, the school health nurse will be involved in providing direct health care to the students in case of injuries or other acute illness for the students. The main roles will include assessment and treatment of students with special needs and provision of basic first aid services (Smolowitz, Speakman, Wojnar, Whelan, Ulrich, Hayes & Wood, 2015) . He/she will also be involved in the development of an individualized health care plan for a student who contains other conditions such as diabetes and asthma.

The school nurse has also been involved in screening and referral for various health conditions which may exist. In most cases, health screening always helps to reduce the negative effect of various health issues that are identified with the students. The screening will include vision, hearing and BMI assessments.
Within St. Louis Missouri School, the school nurse always promote a healthy school environment where he/she provide both physical and emotional safety of the school through a high level of monitoring immunization programs ( Taketa, 2017) . The school nurse also coordinates with a school counselor in order to ensure proper development of suicide prevention programs within the school. To avoid drug and substance abuse, the school nurse also helps the management to prevent the issue within the community level.
How health promotions and management of existing health problems are addressed.
There are various ways in which existing health problems are addressed within the school community in order to ensure healthy condition for the students. Some of the most common health conditions are diabetes and asthma where the school nurse helps to provide individual health care plan in order to ensure the students always have access to the necessary medication within the schools ( Taketa, 2017) . There are inhalers which the affected students should always have in order to ensure that they live a comfortable life.
In addition, there are also a group of students living with various disability such as walking conditions as well as hearing issues. It is the role of the school health nurse together with the school management to ensure that there is proper learning. For example, they are offered wheelchairs which helps them in walking ( Taketa, 2017) . Others are offered sign language training in order to equip them with more skills for learning and communication.
In order to ensure there is no spread of diseases within the community, there is the introduction of immunization program which will assist in ensuring that major conditions such as polio are fully prevented. Introduction of the immunization program has helped to prevent a high level of chronic diseases ( Taketa, 2017) . In addition, there is also health care promotion and management where the school nurse will work together with the school management as well as school counselors in order to conduct health education. The students are advised on how to avoid unwanted pregnancies, especially during the adolescent stage. Drug testing will also be conducted to prevent a high level of drug abuse within the school.

Therefore, school health nurse is critical as he/she will be involved in ensuring better health promotion within the community. School nurse will help to provide the primary health care services to the students hence ability to control chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes. There are also regular immunization programs which are conducted in order to curb the high level of diseases in the area. Through the help of the school health nurse and school management, various health promotions and management are conducted which help to address multiple health issues such as disability.
