Clinical Information Systems (CIS) are computer networks that collect, decode and manipulate information about a particular patient. This system has significant use in critical areas such as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where a healthcare professional can access vital information about a severely ill patient. On the other hand, Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) are programs that give regular reminders and prompts to healthcare professionals in assisting them to offer various guidelines to patients. This strategy has a significant application in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases as healthcare professionals get reminders on screening various risk factors or information about treatment protocols. The first similarity between CIS and CDSS is that the two allow medical professionals to access information within a shorter time as compared to the physical data gathering. Therefore, one does not need to move from one department to another searching for information about a particular patient. Secondly, CIS and CDSS allow the computerized interconnection of various departments for efficient healthcare to the patient. However, the two have various features which differentiate them. First, CIS is mostly applicable in critical conditions where the patient cannot provide vital information necessary for the treatment of a particular illness (Elmogazy & Bamasag, 2016) . On the other hand, CDSS applies in both critical and normal situations by providing regular reminders the healthcare professional can use in the treatment of a certain disease. Secondly, CIS mostly applies to critical areas while the CDSS has significant use in cardiovascular prevention and treatment.

The first strength of CIS involves its ability to provide all the necessary information a healthcare professional requires to make an appropriate clinical decision. Therefore, one does not need to take longer time consulting various specialists on the information about a particular patient. The second strength of CIS is its ability to provide x-rays and scans whenever the healthcare professional requires them. Therefore, the healthcare professional has such information at a central point and can access it whenever the need arises. However, CIS has various weaknesses like its high installation and maintenance costs and its inability to integrate with other systems. On the other hand, CDSS's first advantage is its ability to reduce medical errors by updating the healthcare professional on methods and procedures to use in the treatment of various diseases (Zikos & DeLellis, 2018) . Therefore, the clinician will stick to healthcare guidelines and thus offering quality services to the patient. Secondly, CDSS allows an enhanced communication between various disciplines and thus providing an expanded reference to the healthcare professional on the treatment of different illnesses. Having a wider source of information enables the clinician to provide quality healthcare and thus better patient outcomes. However, CDSS has various drawbacks like the inability to differentiate various forms of data for proper treatment and possible design failure.

As a health information technology manager, the most appropriate program to use is the CIS. The first reason for selecting this system is its ability to allow the creation of a database that is accessible for research and audit. Therefore, the ICT manager can know the direction in which certain information has taken and thus compile an accurate audit. Secondly, CIS provides more security to the vital data within a healthcare facility as compared to physical information storage. Therefore, the ICT manager can only give access codes to selected personnel and thus prevent access to classified information by other members within or outside the facility. Lastly, CIS allows the ICT manager to have improved storage and access to information as compared to the use of physical methods or CDSS. This computerized program enables a healthcare facility to store massive data besides having easier and faster access to it. Therefore, one can save the space and time taken to search for information about a particular patient.
