Comprehensive Medical Record is used to coordinate care thereby promoting integrated delivery system. It offers real-time clinical all-inclusive medical information of a patient at a point of care. It provides clinicians with an instant and combined record of patient care from all healthcare professionals who have handled the patient at some point. Therefore, it promotes connections between public health registries, laboratories, pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, multiple specialist, and primary care physicians (Ader et al., 2015).

Mental and physical health are intimately interconnected. However, professional and conceptual fields have separated the mental and behavioral health conditions. Whereas, mental diseases are treated separately by psychiatrists and neurologists and other professionals dealing with behavioral health. However, it is vital for health professionals to connect with behavioral health because certain type of medications trigger the development of mental health problems. Additionally, it is also crucial for health record to connect physicians together and adapt new simulations of healthcare (Ader et al., 2015). Therefore, working in partnership allows physicians to provide patients with health services in a harmonized, cohesive, and holistic manner.

Behavioral health care services has gained increasing attention in the recent years due to the prevalent mental health issues in our contemporary society. To address these mental health problems, evidence suggests that behavioral healthcare should be included in the CMR to enhance coordinated care. However, there exists prevalent challenges with implementing the CMR to encompass behavioral healthcare. Examples of these barriers include lack of accessibility to the behavioral health care services thus makes it difficult to achieve integrated care. It is important for a key reform to be taken by physicians to facilitate access to behavioral health services to implement the processes of delivery system, which coordinate behavioral and physical health services effectively. Another barrier is lack of recognition regarding the significance of integrating behavioral healthcare in CRM. Lack of understanding has affected the commitment of healthcare personnel to improve integration of behavioral and physical health care across the healthcare system. Moreover, the licensing process itself is a challenge to integration because it is extensive thus time consuming (Ader et al., 2015). Therefore, to successful promote integration of behavioral healthcare in CRM, it is important for these barriers to be eliminated and appropriate processes be implemented.
