Capital one is a bank founded to help its customers succeed by offering ingenuity, simplicity, and humanity in banking services (CapitalOne, 2019) . The bank was involved in an identity fraud cybercrime attack in July 2019. An anonymous individual acquired access to the company systems and obtained personal information concerning Capita l One customers and other people who earlier applied for credit cards.
Identity theft may occur in many ways, such as a criminal pawing through an individual's private emails or even hacking an organization database and taking the information. The government agencies use the criminal profile to identify criminal activity offenders: both behavioral and personal (Douglas & Burgess, 1986) . The offender’s criminal profile might include individual gender, employment status, ethnicity, and his/ her working status. According to Allison et al. (2005), most identity theft criminals are African American, unemployed, and working alone.

Identity theft cybercrime mainly affects financial organizations, such as corporations. This is because many individuals save register and save their money in these institutions, meaning there is plenty of personal information and cash. The identity thieves hack to acquire the individuals' information individuals' information without their consent and steals all their information, including the money in their accounts. They also negatively affect businesses by creating problems between the organization suppliers and their creditors, destroying the organization's reputation.

Moreover, the DoJ and other law enforcement agencies have created legislation, such as the wired fraud, to prosecute criminals. Finally, law enforcement agencies are increasing public awareness by advising individuals on how to protect themselves.
The DoJ prosecutes identity theft and fraud cases under different statutes, such as the Wire Fraud. The different felonies in identity theft and fraud, such as computer fraud, wired fraud, or financial institution fraud, may result in severe penalties, such as 30 years imprisonment and substantial fines.
