The congressional committees in the United States are sub-organizations that are responsible in completing some specific duties. Their duties in the congress are limited, but they carry out the most important duties as little legislatures. They gather information, evaluate and compare legislative alternatives. They also review legislations that are pending and they recommend action for those legislations. The committee system in the congress is where the U.S law making process takes place. The committees are made up of members of the congress. 

The congressional committee system has an important role during legislation. Often congressional members come up with bills that are not beneficial or aim to promote their agenda, but the congressional committee system has acted as a filter for such bills. Among one of its functions committee members have the ability to block the progress of some bills, they are able to rewrite bills. When a bill is projected to be crucial and beneficial to the public, the committee system in the congress has the ability to promote the bill by actively working with other members of the committee. The committee system plays a crucial role in the congress, the work and the committee, in order of priority, organizes all responsibilities of the congressional members. The congressional member’s would have it rough if their bills and work would not be organized by priority.

The congressional committee system is a crucial segment in both the House of Congress and the Senate, this is so because the committee system reconciles the differences between the two houses on their versions of the bill they present. The committee systems also act as an investigating body in both the houses, they have the ability to investigate a particular issue and hold hearings and call witnesses for questioning. The committee system plays a special role in the House of Congress.
