Generally, directives act as standards of conduct for personnel in certain authorities. They consist of the policies, procedures, and rules important for professional and consistent operations. Therefore, both the corporate and police-related directives are standards of conduct governing their various personnel operations. Various directives specific to their unique operations govern both the police force and the corporate sector.
For instance, in their primary duty of preserving human life, the police department of Philadelphia, directive 10.2, governs the police application of force, emphasizing the application of limited or moderate force (Philadelphia Police, 2015). Directive 10.2 specifies the proper application of force when using the pepper spray and oleoresin capsicum (Philadelphia Police, 2015). Other directives in the Philadelphia Police department include Directive 10.3 directing the use of Electronic control weapon and 10.1 that guide on the application of deadly force.

Like the police departments, corporate institutions occupy a special position in a country's economy, thus making their way of operations of great importance. Enriques (2020) assert that corporate governance constitutes the structure and process applied in the management and directing institution affairs as well as the business to maintain its soundness, safety and improving the value of their stakeholders. Corporations such as financial institutions are highly leveraged with most of their funds belonging to the creditors and depositors (Enriques, 2020). The soundness and safety of the financial institutions are necessary for financial stability with their way of operations playing a key role in the maintenance of economic health.
Poor governance of financial institutions can result in problems in both the financial and the whole economy. Therefore, directives in the financial sector provide an outline of important corporate governance principles that ought to be complied with by all their personnel for financial security, social responsibility, and sustainability (Enriques, 2014). The police department being a separate branch of the criminal justice system main goal is the achievement of the public safety, hence most of their directives are towards achieving it while directives in the corporate sector are geared at protecting the financial and economic health with the freedom of settling businesses anywhere in the world (Enriques, 2014). Therefore, directives, as rules, procedures, and policies govern the police officers and corporate personnel into the achievement of their mission and goals.
