Nurses are faced with the challenges of translating the best evidence into practice. It is due to the lack of comprehensive research-based databases. The issue also results from the excessive about and type of information available, in addition to time constraints. Nurses require to conduct extensive research before using any evidence and establish whether it has been approved by various authors to make it usable in clinical practice. The evidence should also have been in practice before, and the positive results on its use should be available (Houser, 2016). The usability of evidence is also determined by time of discovery, and the most recent proof is best as it has been tested using modern medical methods.

There are several aspects a critical thinker looks for in evidence before the decision to conduct change. The integrity of data is the first aspect that determines credibility. When using statistics, the essential factors to consider are sample size, correct application of the scientific method, and presentation of data. The statistical significance of data has to be established by ensuring that graphs and other visuals used are consistent with the claim presented (Portney, 2020). The data collection method should be possible; for example, if questionnaires are used, they should have queries that the population should be able to answer.

Credibility and clinical significance affect the decision to integrate research-based evidence into practice. Clinical significance determines the importance of conducting research. The use of vaccines, for instance, can be studied, and the results will help establish whether the study should continue or another clinical problem such as prevention of falls will be studied. The two clinical issues have to be weighed, and depending on the which is more significant and will have credible information, it will be given the priority. The research will be conducted and evidence intergraded into practice.
