The primary goal of the justice system is to protect our rights as individuals and society as a whole. The US criminal justice system, for instance, aims to control crime while upholding the due process of implementing the law. According to Frase (1985), the eradication of racial bias and the provision of equal opportunities, among others, have been established to be among the laudable goals of criminal justice systems. Notably, the accomplishment of the primary purpose of criminal justice can be realized without impacting more effects on other people. This paper finds that the establishment of stringent rules and regulations, and the observation of due process are crucial towards the accomplishment of the primary goal of criminal justice.

According to Bassiouni (2017), the establishment of strong institutions within the criminal justice system of any given country is one of the best approaches towards the achievement of crime control without compromising the due process. Notably, the establishment and maintenance of such institutions of criminal justice play a crucial role in the promotion of inclusive and peaceful societies for the attainment of general sustainable development. Within the same breath, the establishment of firm legal institutions of criminal justice helps in the provision of access for justice to everyone. At the same time, the institutions mandated to help in building an inclusive, accountable, and effective institutions which ensure that human rights are considered when handling criminal cases that may lead to the infringement of other people's human rights (Bassiouni, 2017).

While protecting society, an effective criminal justice system is required to consider the implications of the decision made by the stakeholders. In various instances, the decisions made by the criminal justice system affect the lives of the individuals in multiple ways such as depression and other illnesses that occur as a result of anxiety. According to Bassiouni (2017), criminal justice systems and the government must set up guidance and counseling programs that can help in preparing the people involved in a particular case of the possible outcomes of the due process. Bassiouni (2017) further argues that the criminal justice system in collaboration with the government and healthcare institutions should ensure that the victims of any given criminal justice process are diagnosed and treated in cases of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Controlling crime in society is another approach that can be used to protect the rights of people in society (Bassiouni, 2017). At the same time, the establishment of professional crime control units in our societies can help in protecting the rights of other people, for example, the right to a fair trial in criminal justice systems. It is essential for the government through its crime control units and local public agencies to work together towards solving common problems that affect individuals and society as a whole.

Conclusion

Criminal justice systems have the mandate to protect the rights of every individual and society as a whole. In various instances, the achievement of one of these objectives affects the achievement of the other goal. In this regard, therefore, it is essential for the government through its criminal justice agencies to work together to harmonize the accomplishment of these objectives. While, at it, these institutions of criminal justice should work in close ordination with healthcare facilities to help in curbing the possible effects that may affect individuals such as PTSD.
