Community Outreach coordinators refer to specific persons in the society who help enhance service delivery to the people, through harmonization of outreach programs and ensuring their implementation. They play an essential role in ensuring that the planning and implementation of security programs with a specific community of interest are done efficiently. Among their duties, community outreach coordinators work hand in hand with criminal justice professionals to ensure the wellness and betterment of society. Of importance, criminal justice professionals are considerably involved in making rules and regulations that pertain to the moral and ethical conduct of community members. Criminal justice professionals are in charge of enforcing law and order in society, which makes them very important in society. These professionals are bestowed to ensure the different aspects of criminal justice systems work together towards the betterment of society affairs. Criminal justice professionals include the police, heads of the prison departments, and the court system.
Criminal justice professionals are also crucial to the society for their ability to help criminal justice systems identify key resource persons of interest. Community outreach coordinators are on the ground and understand the various societal dynamics; thus, they can identify different resourceful persons and inform criminal justice professionals. Thus, community outreach coordinators play a significant role by helping criminal justice professionals reach the target audience with the rightful intended projects and programs (“ Anti-trafficking professionals | OVC ,” 2020 ).
For one to qualify to become a criminal justice professional, some qualifications and skills must be met. Some of the essential skills for qualifying and becoming a criminal justice professional include excellent writing communication, public speaking, and an effective time manager. Due to police and administration work nature, one should have top-notch skills when it comes to writing communication. The importance of writing communication is that the documents might later be used for reference purposes in a court of law trial, thus should be concisely and neatly written ( Fix, 2020 ). As a result, a criminal justice professional should be accurate when writing down essential information and also exercise absolute clarity in the written text.
Criminal justice professionals should be competent in applying ethical standards when officiating criminal justice issues and cases. Criminal justice professionals are at the forefront of ensuring and maintaining ethical and moral standards in society. They should be equipped with professionalism to enable them to practice their duties with an absolute vocation for paramount success. This includes the sense of differentiating from what is right and what is wrong to help them maintain scrupulous ethics in society. Criminal justice professionals should be well experienced in conducting justice case analyses and have hands-on skills in operating computers. Techniques and systems have evolved, thus the importance of computer skills to criminal justice professionals to ensure efficacy while conducting their day-to-day duties ( Nodeland et al., 2019 ).
Careers chosen include police officers in policing, judges in courts, and finally, a correctional officer in the correction department. To become a police officer in the United States, some qualifications must be met for certification purposes. First, one should have obtained a high school diploma or a GED certificate, 21 years and above, and a clean criminal record; however, some police departments consider minor offenses. One is also required to pass the law enforcement exam and graduate in a police academy ( Nodeland et al., 2019 ). Secondly, to qualify to become a court judge, the paramount qualifications include; one should have earned at least a bachelor's degree and passed the law school admission test, one should also attend a law school and earn the Juris Doctorate. A correctional officer should have various qualifications depending on the different correctional systems involved. For instance, local state prisons prefer a high school diploma compared to the federal-state systems that require at least a bachelor's degree; age should be between 21 and 37 years old ( Fix, 2020 ).
The three careers I have chosen work together to ensure ethical and moral standards prevail in society. The three, policing, courts, and correctional officers, work in conjunction with each other to bring sanity and rationality in a community. The three work as a system and entails law enforcement, courts and prisons for incarceration, and counseling services provided by the correctional officer. The cooperation helps delineate what the society should be involved in and what practices are illegal and against the policing systems ( Fix, 2020 ). For instance, when a person is found to have committed wrongdoing in society, it starts with policing (police officers) tasked with bringing the responsible person to book. After an arrest has been made, the court now takes over the case and decides what type of misconduct was committed and the accompanying repercussions. Lastly, correctional officers are involved in instilling the required values and taking the respective victim through counseling sessions. Through the correctional officer, the criminal justice system can attain its relevancy, and also ensure that the community is free from people of belligerence.
The rapidly growing rate of cybercrime is one current trend related to one of the mentioned careers in one way or another. Cybercrime refers to malicious activities perpetrated through online-based activities. The rise in cyber-crime activities poses a concern for the policing departments and courts. Laws governing cybercrime should be revisited, and reforms amended to curb the rising cases of cybercrime.
