Part 1A 

Human beings are constituted in three parts: mental, physical, and spiritual spheres. These sections need to be balanced to ensure the holistic development of an individual. This implies that an unbalance in one of these areas, for example, the spiritual part should be understood as sickness. This will result in other areas of the being such as mental and physical suffering. It is therefore important for the caregiver to understand the patient’s spiritual bearing. A patient might be suffering from a condition whose origin is the spiritual domain and can best be cured through appealing to the patient’s spiritual wellbeing. Besides, a patient may be suffering from other causes. The situation can be solved by advising the patient to consider incidences or teachings of hope in the patient’s religion. In other instances, some patients may not be free to take certain medical treatment because they are in contradiction to their spiritual teachings. Therefore, the nurse should understand the patient’s spiritual beliefs to reach the patient and help him recover fast. 

Part 1B 

Discrimination in the line of religion occurs in the outside world as well as in the medical field. A case scenario involved a Muslim discriminated for his religion. The patient needed immediate attention and was admitted to one facility. He need urgent care because of the serious injuries from an accident. The reception was very slow; some whispered that he might have had the damages attempting to cause some terror while others commented that he deserved to die for the reasons his race has caused pain to others. Here, instead of considering the victim as a fellow human and providing the necessary assistance, the emergency team was slow to respond and the patient ended suffering simply because he was a Muslim.
