Job loss is defined as the disappearance of work due to necessary changes in the economic framework as distinct from a short-lived shift in demand. These changes include fluctuation in global trade patterns, technological innovation, and changes in activity location. In my experience, job loss came as a shock because of the assumption that it could never happen. The reason for the job loss was that the economy was on a downward trend, and most companies were downsizing. This was accompanied by a feeling of doubtfulness in my levels of expertise and followed by depression. One starts to think about where they would get money to support their basic needs.
After a while, I started looking for another job through the preparation of cover letters and updating my resume. This process was tedious, and it involved attending several interviews with no response. This took a toll on me, the feeling of doubtfulness came back, and I felt more depressed. The feeling of not being good enough starts settling in your head, and it feels like you can give at any time. I would channel my anger towards other people without knowing it. Eventually, after a while, I started viewing the job market differently. I realized that I might go for years without finding a job. This is when I stopped applying for jobs and became withdrawn from having employment.

Since I did not have any support, this stage of my life was challenging to go through. One feels a sense of loneliness and uncertainty about his future career and where my career direction was headed.
