The creation of designer babies is sometimes considered questionable due to the surrounding moral and ethical issues. People usually wonder if it is morally right for the parents to modify their babies especially if they have some superficial reasons. Others believe that the benefits of preventing risks of genetic diseases outweigh the moral implications. Some of the genetic conditions that can be avoided include the Dawn Syndrome, Huntington's disease, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (Paul, 2015) . Another advantage is that it gives the parents a chance to offer their child a better shot at the healthy lifestyle. Parents can also use the technology to perform superficial purposes like seeking for appearance they would prefer. Through genetic engineering, parents can set their limits. Also, it reduces the risks of the baby getting some inherited medical conditions like obesity, cancer, and diabetes among others,
One of the disadvantages of the designer baby is the fact that the society can end up creating a gap that distinguishes the designer baby from those that are not. The process of genetic engineering is quite expensive, and it can end up affecting the financial status of the family. Also, altering the genes can be an adverse effect on fetal health because genes can perform different functions. Many parents would prefer to genetically modify their children to become good looking and intelligent which, in many cases, results to lack of genetic diversity (Paul, 2015) . With the use of technology, individuality can be slighted as all parents will be seeking for intelligent and better-looking babies. The baby's family tree can be affected because the new technology tends to change the gene pool of the baby. Although designing babies is practiced because of various advantages, I think it should not be adopted by many people because geneticist is not proven perfect and they are likely to make multiple mistakes. I think it is not morally right and a baby cannot consent to the alteration of its body.
