Some brief background about your topic:

Diabetes mellitus, also referred to as diabetes, is a condition that occurs when the body cannot use glucose normally. Glucose is usually the primary energy source for the body’s cells. Levels of glucose in the body are usually controlled by the insulin hormone that is made in the pancreas. There are two types of diabetes mellitus: type 1 diabetes mellitus and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 1 arises mostly in children and teenagers and occurs when the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin because the body’s immune system destroys them. Type 2 diabetes can happen at any age and occurs due to insulin resistance when the liver cells, muscle, and fat do not use insulin efficiently, and the body produces more insulin than necessary (Bervoets et al., 2017).

Diabetes mellitus is a lifelong disease with no cure. Children and adolescents with the condition may have to live with it all their lives, making it imperative to study the impacts that the disease can have.

The purpose of the paper is to analyze the impact that diabetes mellitus has on children and adolescents. The paper’s direction will involve analyzing type 1 diabetes as it is highly prevalent and mostly diagnosed among the youth. However, the paper will consider type 2 diabetes as it has been increasingly diagnosed over the past years. The angle that the paper will take is to analyze the negative impacts that diabetes can have. Some of the adverse effects that can be examined are health impacts, psychological impacts, social impacts, and the overall quality of life. The position that the paper will take is to show that diabetes mellitus has a negative effect on both children and adolescents and demonstrate the need for various interventions to reduce those negative impacts.

With this information in 1,2, how might you organize the essay?

The essay will be organized through an introductory paragraph that identifies the percent of children and adolescents impacted by diabetes mellitus. The paper will then be divided into different paragraphs that analyze how diabetes mellitus affects the health, psychological well-being, social life, and overall quality of life. A final paragraph will highlight various recommendations and interventions that can be done to reduce the negative impacts.

Now with this information, write your thesis statement:
