It is essential to know how to perform the different types of wraps because different kinds of wraps best suit different types of injuries that patients may present with. Therefore, it is essential first to know which type of wrap best suits a situation. Furthermore, the right technique and principles of wrapping must be applied to ensure optimal results and comfortability of patients.
Burn injuries would make me feel most nervous about managing and treating. Burns can extend deeply into body tissues and affect a large area of the body surface. This is unlike other injuries such as fractures and bleeding that occur at specific points of the body. Burns can also lead to disfigurement, multiple contractures, and even death, depending on the extent and surface area of the body affected. It would, therefore, require more energy and effort to deal with burn injuries. Since burns can occur in all forms of pattern, one can never know what to expect clinically.

From the P.R.I.C.E model of success, I have learned that it is crucial to have an integrative approach of all the core values. In caring for patients with injuries, professionalism, respect, and caring should be displayed at their highest levels. However, this does not make integrity and engagement to be of lesser importance in such situations. With professionalism, one can be able to handle even difficult or challenging situations. Respect means treating other people the way we would want to be treated. Caring means treating a person in a way that demonstrates we are mindful of their feelings. With these three, one will be able to handle all forms of injuries and result in a high level of satisfaction to both the patient and medical assistant.
The takeaway message is that it is vital to know the different types of injuries one may encounter in the course of practice and be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle them. This will lead to more professional growth and satisfaction.
