Diversity is defined as the state of having different kinds of ideas, forms, people, and groups within one organization. This group also includes people from different cultures and is referred to as a multicultural group or organization. Diversity and multicultural perspectives are ways in which workers in an organization use to ensure they work together like respect and understanding. These perspectives are found within each organization and they are embraced by many because of the advantages they bring with them. The public health and generally the health sector is one of those institutions or organizations that work well in a diverse and multicultural environment (Belfield, n.d). This paper will discuss the significance of diversity and multicultural perspectives within public health and health education fields before the beginning of any intervention.

Diversity and multicultural perspectives within the health system helps people to learn and understand each other. In the health system, people working together come from different cultural backgrounds. These workers also attend to people from different cultural backgrounds. For collaboration and cooperation to prevail in the workplace, health practitioners should be able to understand how people do some of the things in their culture. On the other hand, this worker should be able to respect the culture of the other person. This helps in fostering a peaceful and conducive working environment (Belfield, n.d).

The health institution focuses on active involvement of the organizational representatives, the community members and any research representatives that might be interested in carrying out research within a particular area. To make the research or any intervention successful, all these parties need to work together to make the process a success and sustainable. The experts bring in their expertise on a particular phenomenon. This phenomenon will depend on knowledge from different people parties within the institution. The solution arrived at will require the participation of the community. The community pays a significant role in public health and health education. To work with the community, one needs to understand their culture to avoid any violations.

Diversity and multicultural perspectives in public health also help in making the intervention process easy. For a problem to be solved, the public health workers need to brainstorm on different ideas that might work. To come up with the different ideas, these people need to work together. They need to involve different stakeholders and other institutions. The diversity makes the intervention process easy because each party has it is role to play in the making work easier and ensuring the whole process comes out successful.

Identifying the common barriers to cultural understanding is made possible with diversity and multicultural perspectives because it fosters good relations between the providers, the patients and other staff. Knowing how to deal with a particular person and understanding how they do things makes it possible for public health workers to work with different groups with people. They are able to identify the best intervention for a particular group of people or for a certain individual because they know them well (Lehman, n.d).

In conclusion, diversity and multicultural perspectives in public health are of importance before any intervention because they foster great understanding among the parties involved. In addition, they create a conducive and peaceful environment of work for each of the parties involved. In addition, public health needs different parties to work together to make the intervention easier since the contribution of diverse parties is required. Furthermore, it helps workers to respect the differences that exist between them and the community or the people they work with. The discussion proves the benefits of diversity and multicultural perspectives in public health and health education before any intervention.
