Domestic violence refers to act that is aimed towards a person whom the perpetrator is most of the times attached to them in a romantic association. This can take a psychological, sexual, emotional, or physical violence, and even coerced marriages. The psychological abuse comprises of traits that regulate the partners as a result of the psychological control (Jolly, 2014) . This consists of being stigmatized by friends and family member, insulted, spending and housework adjusted to conform to the abused and the fear of future abuse. This paper seeks to find out the prevalence of these forms of violence in same-sex association over the normal opposite sex relationship in the world today.
Survey conducted in 2013 found domestic violence rates among same-sex couples were upward of twice as high as those of opposite-sex couples. To begin with, the same sex violence is higher because most people in the society tend to emotionally stigmatize the homosexuals and even the lesbians. This is evident from the results that were found from a survey by Northwestern Medicine group on domestic violence which rates it to be twice as high as that of the opposite sex (Gregory, 2014) . The most common form of violence in the gay association is the emotional violence which causes the partners to be frightened and always to be out to do everything that would please the violent partners so that he can lower the abuse. There is a higher case of physical violence which involves one of the partners being slapped, restrained, punched, or threatened to be physically injured by the perpetrator. There are also higher cases of sexual assault which is most of the time being hidden in all types of relationships, heterosexual and the homosexual romantic relationships. Sexual assault results in the creation of fear, distress, and one of the partners being coerced into sexual acts (Jolly, 2014) .

It is also higher because of the tendency of the society to try eliminating it which only increases the cases of violence over the normal opposite sex that are preferred in the societies today. The violence among the same-sex relationships remains unnoticed in the community because of the concern that it will result in more straight people shifting into the same-sex relationships which are being considered to be culturally unacceptable. Research on domestic violence among the gay, lesbians, and bisexuals has been reported to be 75% of the total domestic violence cases that are reported in the country (Gregory, 2014) . This has also been promoted by the homophobia, which refers to the fear of the homosexual people or their relationships. Moreover, the homosexuals are most of the times physically and emotionally being victimized by the other member of the society such as the police.
