Over the years, various intensive policies are implemented in Georgia to limit the availability of certain drugs. Consequently, a reduction in the use of these drugs. It is, however, argued that the fear of subsequent punishment forces drugs consumers to halt consuming and averts youths from starting drug abuse. Unfortunately, although the policies are implemented, the rate of drug abuse has escalated in the past decade despite the moves towards the initiation of evidence based health involvements. The authors reviewed various documentation, such as annual drug situation reports and technical reports. Moreover, they reviewed judicial and legislative practices over twelve years. These reports provided a general understanding of the topic and to the reasoning for forming the problem statement. The researchers used the research by Reuter et al. to form a basis for their objectives (2009). Additionally, these statements provide critical information relevant to comprehending the supply reduction of illegal drugs in the county. Specifically, the research aimed at describing the law enforcement reaction in Georgia on drug-related issues and its influence on illegal drug ingestion. Moreover, it aimed at investigating the success of policy models initiated to curb drug abuse. Also, it sought to understand the drivers behind behavior patterns and changes among drug users. Comments: The author’s objectives of the study assist in explaining the problem statement. The study used various forms of data. It used secondary literature, such as technical and drug situation reports. Also, the authors used documents that contained information on legislation, policies, health, and research reports. Information gathered concentrated on suggestions and examination of patterns of illegal drug consumption. To comprehend the changes in the drug market, the writers used two sources; a program database of the Georgian Harm Reduction Network and the bi-annual Bio-Behavioral Surveillance Survey. Comments: The methods used in this study, therefore, provided the relationships between drug users’ behavior and enforcement. Moreover, the sources helped in achieving the objective of the research since they were clearly explained. The findings of the study were as follows:

Drug use patterns - The rise of home-made stimulants was connected to increased mobility and labor relocation. Moreover, the authors found out that heroin was the most injected substance since 2003 (Otiashvili et al., 2016). Policy interventions – The study indicates that two events contributed to the availability of substance treatment (Otiashvili et al., 2016). They are the recent regulation on narcotic pills and the allocation of funds for opioid substitution management.

Comments: The findings were specific and clearly explained. Besides, they were based on the objectives of the research. The writer’s analysis was accurate as it provided more insights on the topic. There is, however, an inadequacy of evidence offered to propose any positive results in decline in the occurrence of the issue of drug abuse or its adverse effects. Nonetheless, the authors indicated that the changes in drug use were linked to the use of different toxic provisions and thus successive damage to the body and psychological health of people.

Conclusion

The research provides the prerequisite to re-evaluate the drug policies in Georgia. According to the authors, Georgia needs to create a large drug monitoring structure that provides policymakers with systematic data on drug use patterns (Otiashvili et al., 2016). Moreover, continuous analysis of the policies should be upheld to inform and allow the formulation of effective policies by decision-makers. Comments: The conclusion is precise and provides insights on the findings of the study. It is important to carry out more research on the policies and factors resulting to the increased use of injectable drugs in other states. Some of the health interventions should be analyzed to ensure that they help in mitigating drug abuse. Additionally, more research on the top should be examined to check for any inconsistency in the results provided.
