E-marketing Excellence

The modern business landscape necessitates that businesses invest in online presence, especially by having a website. However, business owners must understand what defines a good website. Several yardsticks are used to measure a good website, with the visual design being one of the most critical measures of a quality website. Undeniably, people are visual creatures, making it mandatory for website creators and owners to integrate design principles that leverage the principle of appealing. Any given commercial website has a fraction of a second to impress a visitor and capture their attention for a significant amount of time. Nevertheless, one must not overuse appealing elements such as colors, text, animations, and flashy integrations. The five provided websites have different value propositions, visual design ratings, pull effect, and overall design impact on each site's value proposition.

The value proposition informs a visitor why they should choose the indicated products or services instead of those proposed by competitors. The "YouTube Rewind" website is relatively well designed with a fantastic value proposition. The website’s value proposition tells a visitor to explore trending big stories on YouTube from different countries (YouTube Rewind, n.d.). The second website is the "RISD Museum" website, whose value proposition is to promote civic engagement while also creating more open societies (Rhode Island School of Design Museum, n.d.). Third, the “Official Guide to Breckenridge, Colorado” website promises visitors to the site to provide adventurers a platform to experience the shared passion for adventure and outdoor life while touring the Breckenridge area in Colorado (Official Guide to Breckenridge, Colorado, n.d.). Fourth, the "Heath Ceramics" website is a specially designed site that suggests to customers that they will purchase goods of everlasting design and uncompromising integrity, made meticulously and with pride to enjoyed with analogous intentions (Heath Ceramics, n.d.). Last, the website for "The LEGO Foundation" proposes that it will provide a platform that children can leverage to become creative, engaged, and lifelong learners by re-defining play and re-imagining learning (The Lego Foundation, n.d.). One recognizes that all five websites have excellent value propositions that should be replicated in the visual design.

Although the five websites have exceptional value propositions, they have different visual design rates in terms of quality, appropriateness, and relevant appearance. As such, the design of each pulls a visitor differently. “The LEGO Foundation” website is of high quality, with appropriately placed and appealing elements and thus a relevant appearance. The website does not overwhelm a visitor with unnecessarily cluttered interfaces. The website's high-quality visual design enhances its value proposition and will captivate a visitor for some time (Webby Awards, 2019). Second, although the "Heath Ceramics" website has attractive background white and black backgrounds and high-quality images, there something counteracting this in how it blends font sizes. One has to strain a little bit to read something from the website's pages. A visitor will likely exit the webpage due to the frustrating font size mix used. The visual design of the website does not augment its value proposition (Webby Awards, 2019). There is no link between the site's appropriateness and relevance.

Third, the "RISD Museum" website is overwhelming to a visitor. The moving images on the site and the choice of color for the site's links make its quality decrease. Although it has some degree of relevance, the website's visual design is not appropriate. It does not inspire a visitor to spend their time on it clicking the various links. Definitely, it does not augment the value proposition indicated above (Webby Awards, 2019). Fourth, the “Official Guide to Breckenridge, Colorado" website has a professionally done outlook as evidenced by its visual design. Despite having a moving image, one does not get distracted and can navigate from one page to another, unlike in the "RISD Museum" website (Webby Awards, 2019). The visual elements incorporated are appropriate and relevant, thus enhancing the intended impact of its value proposition.

The last website is the “YouTube Rewind," which blends elements of simplicity and sophistication. Consequently, its visual design is of high quality, as evidenced by the font and font size choice, images, and easy-to-navigate structure. Its visual design is both appropriate and relevant to the message in its value proposition (Webby Awards, 2019). Hence, a visitor will want to interact more with the website before exiting.

Conclusion

The five websites have individual qualities in terms of value propositions, visual design rating, pull effect, and the overall impact of design on the value proposition. I would vote for “The LEGO Foundation” website because of its near minimalistic appearance. This website is not cluttered and a superior visual design compared to others. Moreover, its relevance, appropriateness, and visual design significantly complement the site’s value proposition.
