Early childhood is one of the human being development stages. The stage is usually very imperative to any person. I took my time and observed an age group of children who fall into the category of early childhood. I found children that were of age three to six. They population varied in different ways when categories with their age. I found the children when I had gone to work as a volunteer in one of the major and renowned kindergarten school in the country. I worked in that place for almost eight months. Therefore, that means that I stayed observing those children for nearly eight months. I watched those children in various ways. I watched their physical development, their emotional development, the cognitive development of other means. Most of those children came from relatively wealthy families. That could easily be noticed by their items, and they character. Moreover, they were from very different ethnic society.
The marital status of the parents of those children varied a lot. There was a percentage of individuals that had both parents and married. Another section of those children had both parents, but they were divorced. The other part had only one single parent, and a few of them were being brought up by guidance. The children were also of both the two most significant gender of male and family. I had various goals when is started this project. I majorly wanted to understand the stage of earlier childhood so much because it is a stage that most parents do not know about and they do not know how to handle their children at this juncture. I thought and imagined that I would acquire very different information about the children at that stage, but that was never the case.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
One of the things that I observed amongst the children is their physical development. Physical development of children is always related to the gross and fine motor development . Gross and fine development can be said to be the skills that are material which utilize large and greater body movements and most cases involving the entire body. The term gross is used to refer to large when referring to this context.
During that time, I observed that the children at age three were crawling and toddling. They were using their awkward wide legged robot like stance to try and walk. However, as time went by, they started walking and avoided toddling. Then later in the year, they began running, jumping and hopping here and there. The children of age four to six, I observed that they could even climb the stairs. Those at age five and six climbed the stairs by bringing both their feet together on each step before next step. Those behaviors precisely fit their physical development stage. With that, I can say that their behavior was appropriate because they developed in accordance to their age.
The other thing that I observed from the children is their cognitive development. Cognitive development majorly deals with the neuroscience plus the psychology of their children during their development. At this point, I observed a lot of issues about those children. One of the things that I noted in the children is that they could over regularize. Overregularization is where a child extends some regular patterns of grammar to be in an irregular way. I could hear most of the children at that place saying that the teacher isgone instead of went. Moreover, most of the children were not able to recognize the plural of tooth is a tooth because most of them were saying tooth’s.
Another thing observed is the issue of centration. Centration is the situation where a child focuses on one salient issue and avoids other things. At this point, I could observe most of the children more so of age four to six concentrating on drawing things in class and not paying attention to whatever the teacher is saying. Private speech is another thing that I observed amongst most of those children. Private speech is where somebody decides to speak on his or herself to provide self-guidance and self-behaviour regulation. Private speech is always loud, but it is never intended to go to anybody. In most of the occasion, I could find at least one or two children talking to themselves. As they speak to themselves, they take the floor in a loud voice such that one can even imagine that he or she is talking to you, but that was not the case.
The final thing that I observed in their cognitive behavior is the issue of preoperational stage . Preoperational stage is where children start to participate in symbolic plays and get the knowledge of how to manipulate symbols. Here I could see kids trying to build something’s and structures that resemble things that exist in real life like houses and cars. I can say that their behavior was appropriate comparing their age and their development.
Social and emotional development of those children is another thing that I observed. Prosocialbehavior is one of the major things that I found amongst the children when considering their social development. Pro-social behavior is a type of social behavior. The social behavior benefits other people that are in the surrounding. I could see most of the children being very kind to one another. When one has something, I could see that person sharing to the rest of her friends without even negotiating. Animism is the conviction in a supernatural power that controls the universe. The children started understanding that there is the existence of Supreme Being. At times, I could hear the children swearing on behalf of a certain supreme being. Through these observations, I can say that their behavior fits the development stage.
In conclusion, the development stages of those children are appropriate and excellent. They can be easily matched with their age. No child is lagging behind regarding developing.
