Education policies are government regulations set with the aim of assisting schools to teach students safely, fairly and efficiently .The importance of an education policy is that it impacts current students as the younger generations. There is an inequality within our education systemwhere one's neighborhood and the school's location may ultimately determine the educational opportunities for his/ her children. Lower-class areas seem to have fewer opportunities than upper-class areas (Archer, 2018). Much legislation has been put in place to ensure equal educational opportunities are available for all regardless of their location. 

There has been a major problem with the country’s education policy with the process seeming more important than the student's results. There are many critical issues within the nation's educational systems including technology, politics, poor testing, and low teacher rates. Standardized testing is one policy that has been introduced to deal with the issue of testing in the high school curriculum. Initially, high school students had to take a single exam at the end of high school to complete the level. Standardized tests have however replaced the single high school exam with a number of end of course (EOC) exams that the learners are supposed to take in order to complete their high school education ( Ward, Eden 2009).

Policy makers believe the EOC exams will bring about the following benefits; first, it will be easy to assess students on what they have covered during the course as opposed to testing what they have covered over the whole three-year period. Secondly, since the assessment involves testing each subject, it hence provides a better and more comprehensive understanding of what the student has mastered in the subject matter. There is also avoidance of multiple practice tests as only fresh material is tested. Lastly, only core course material is covered as well as the state's important knowledge and skills ( Kalil, Haskins & Chesters, 2012). 

Values are important to a student’s capability set, as they understand the functioning crucial to them and hence the capabilities which are important to that individual. The values evident in the education policy include discipline, self-confidence as well as integrity. Schools are mandated by the government to have various mechanisms to address cases of indiscipline and focus has been put on correcting the student rather than punishing them. The introduction of continuous testing was also meant to make it easy for students to prepare well for the exams and thus reduce the temptation to cheat thus bringing out students with integrity ( Ward, Eden 2009). 

The reason for choosing the education policy was due to the vital role that education plays in one's life, therefore, any policies related to education should be carefully looked at and any issues raised as early as possible. The target population is the society and the learners as well. The students deserve an educational system that offers them the resources to compete with others around the world while the society demands that the system produces graduates who can make a positive change in the society through what they have learned in schools. 

Child protection policy 

Child protection policy refers to laws and regulations protecting children from neglect, exploitation, violence, and abuse. There are child protection systems run by the government to help protect the young children as well as young people and to encourage family stability. Everyone has a responsibility to keep children safe. Companies, as well as professions that work with children, are obliged to warrant that their practices and procedures reflect this responsibility. 

A child protection policy offers guidelines for companies and their workers to provide a safe environment for children. It is a way that helps protect both staffs and children by clearly outlining what action is necessary in order to keep children safe and that the behavior is constant. This policy addresses problems to do with a violation, abuse, exploitation, and violence (Geoffrey, 2013). This is achieved because there are clearly defined requirements that help to keep the children safe, clear ways are outlined so as to identify any concern and appropriate procedures are in place in case any issue arises. Guidelines for reporting any concern have been outlined in the policy as well as agreed staffs behavior and working practices ( Dixon & Welbourne 2013) 

Issues of abuse, exploitation or even neglect of children have been on a high and policies that are directed at reducing or eliminating any of these is highly regarded. The values addressed in the child protection policy include reasonable love and care to all children and promotion of children's basic rights among others. Child abuse has been termed as violation of a child's right. Every child has an equal right to protection either from abuse or exploitation by their parent, guardian or any adult near them and child protection policies work to enforce this across the society. The UN Convention takes every adult as having an obligation to protect a child's rights and every organization has a minimum standard that it is supposed to meet when it comes to protecting these rights. Changes in policies and social norms can help better the protection of not only children but also other vulnerable groups ( Lang & Hartill, 2014). 

The reason as to why this policy was chosen was to highlight to people the importance of such policies that work to protect children as they are normally vulnerable and at the mercies of the adults around them. Protection of children's rights ensures that a whole generation grows up having been accorded the various rights due to them and therefore stands a better chance of living happier and more fulfilling lives. The main target population in this policy is those professions that deal with children on a regular basis such as social workers, children daycare workers, teachers, and guardians.
